Miller Park, Milwaukee WI
As an early Mother’s Day gift my daughter, son-in-law (and grandkids) gave me tickets to the Billy Joel concert. They know I’ve been a fan for a very long time. So late Friday afternoon the four of us (husband, daughter and son-in-law) headed to Milwaukee to enjoy a fun night out.
We arrived just before the doors opened. Lines were starting to form so we immediately headed over to wait our turn to get in. This, actually, worked out perfectly because not too many people were ahead of us and once inside we had much shorter lines for dinner choices. As expected TGI Friday’s was packed, so on to the ballpark vendor choices.
If you haven’t been to a ballpark in awhile – brace yourself for the food and beverage prices. A Milwaukee Cheeseburger (Colby Jack, Applewood Smoked Bacon with Schlitz Grilled Onions) from AJ Bombers went for $11.50 each. (Plain) Tater Tots on the side an additional $5. Would you like a Blue Moon beer? .. another $11.50 please.
The stage was tucked in the outfield. Billy took the stage a short while after 8pm with no warm up act and played a solid 2 hours with one encore. With such a large song collection he varied the performance with his Top 40 Hits and popular album cuts; also a few songs that belonged to others. (Highway to Hell, sung by a roadie) I found that a bit odd, but I’m guessing he might be bored with his songs. We, the audience of approximately 40,000, are clearly not – we sang and danced to every one of the songs.
It was fun to see him live again and share the experience with my family.
A big THANK YOU to all my “kids”!
Love you all!!
