Kohl Center – Madison WI
Happy early Birthday Steve! Paul McCartney concert at the Kohl Center.
Sir Paul might be just shy of 77, but he can certainly “rock the house”! The Kohl center was literally vibrating with the songs of McCartney Thursday night. The crowd roared when he took the stage just shortly after 8pm. He and his band played a little of everything during the almost 3 hour concert. (From his pre-Beatle days with the Quarrymen to his latest album Egypt Station.) It was amazing and worth every penny!
McCartney was engaging and funny. He shared stories and showed pictures on the big screen behind him as he sang. For the song My Valentine, which he very sweetly dedicated to his wife who was “somewhere in the audience”, the big screens changed to black and white. Anne Hathaway and Johnny Depp (prerecorded) translated the song into sign language. VERY COOL.
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da was turned into an audience participation number with Paul encouraging everyone to sing along. … altogether… just the men.. just the ladies.. now everyone together.
If you are lucky enough to get tickets to the Freshen Up tour do not miss the opportunity.
